I have more than 25 years of experience in the Media & Entertainment Industry. I have worked as an Assistant Director, under K.S. Ravikumar from May 1991 to 1992. When I was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Visual Communication in 1997 the 1st Batch had only 15 students. Now the Visual Communication Department has more than 1300 students from its Kattankulathur & Ramapuram Campus. Sc Visual Communication in 2003. Some of my students studied during my tenure from 1992 – 1997 are well settled in the M&E Industry and Television channels.
Utilizing the resources in the Department I Co-directed and acted in a 90 minutes telefilm called “377” Produced by SRM and released by Moserbaer in 2007. Served as a Subject Expert in the Appointments Committee for the selection of a Lecturer in Communication/ Journalism / Visual Communication and as an external expert to select the Head of the Department of Visual Communication, Madras Christian College. Presented an article on the topic of Film Acting in the Third International Seminar on Mass Communication in Puducherry on 12th and 13th July 2008, jointly organized by Puducherry Communicators Forum and Subramaniam Arts and Science College, Mohanur. Subsequently, the article was published in the book titled ‘Mass Communication – Cinema’. Nominated by the Vice-Chancellor, of the University of Madras as a Subject Expert for the appointment of staff in the Visual Communication Department in Ethiraj College for Women from 2007 onwards.
Invited as one of the juries to judge the best short films in the 6th International Short Film Festival of India, conducted by Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts on 27th and 28th January 2012. Appointed as Inspection Committee member by Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli to inspect the Good news television channel Pvt, Hyderabad, to grant permission to offer the one-year Diploma in Television Technology in Collaboration with IECD through off-campus mode, from the academic year 2009-2010.
My History
There are 70 plus colleges offering Media related courses like B.sc Visual Communication, B. A Journalism and Mass Communication, B.sc Multimedia & Animation, B.Sc Film Technology in Tamil Nadu for the 20 plus years. What these courses lack are the constant industry-Institution interactions. To bridge this gap between the industry and the institutions our ” One Stop Media Solutions “ is going to act as a catalyst thus benefiting the student’s community in particular and the management in general.
The media and entertainment industry in India is growing exponentially at a 17.5% annual growth rate according to a survey report submitted by FICCI ( Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries ). In another three years’ time, there is going to be 1.15 trillion dollars of investment will be made in India by the MNC’s creating three lakh job opportunities in the ‘ M & E ‘ sector. What India requires at that point in time Is qualified and trained personnel to meet the demand of the media industry.
