Meet Mullai Selvaraj, an esteemed faculty member in Direction and Screenplay Writing. With over 30 years of experience in the vibrant world of Film and Television, Mullai brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our department.
Mullai holds a D.F. Tech from the renowned Film and Television Institute of Tamilnadu, an M.A. in English, and an M.A. in Visual Communication. As a multifaceted professional, Mullai has made significant contributions as a Director, Screenplay, Dialogue Writer, and even an Actor.
Having worked as an Associate Director in ten feature films, Mullai has gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of the filmmaking process. Notably, Mullai directed the captivating mega-serial “Annai” for Raj T.V. Additionally, various thought-provoking documentaries have been brought to life under Mullai’s creative direction.
With a flair for storytelling, Mullai has penned engaging dialogues for five mega-serials. Furthermore, Mullai has scripted and directed eight mini-serials for Sakthi T.V. in Sri Lanka, showcasing a versatile range of directorial skills. Mullai’s professional affiliations include memberships in the Tamilnadu Film Directors Association and the Chinnathirai Director Association, showcasing a dedication to collaboration and growth within the industry.

Mullai’s dedication to the film industry extends beyond creative pursuits. As an esteemed member of the Censor Board of Film Certification, Mullai plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and appropriateness of cinematic content. Mullai’s involvement as a panel member in the Tamilnadu Films Division further demonstrates a commitment to supporting and promoting the regional film industry. Beyond the realms of film and television, Mullai has authored five published books, sharing knowledge and experiences with fellow enthusiasts. Mullai’s passion for education led to roles as the Principal of the Palme Deor Film and Media College and as an Assistant Professor at a renowned film institute in Chennai.
